May 20 is World Bee Day and in recognition of the importance of bees, we’re dedicating all online activities during May to bees, butterflies, and all things nature.

As you might have already gathered, bees are pretty important to the way we live our lives. Bees contribute to 1/3 of our global food supply through pollination, equalling one in every three plates of food that we enjoy.

At Bee One Third Neighbourhood Honey, our core values start right at the heart of this fact, that bees are essential to life on earth. We welcome World Bee Day 2020 to your table to delight in the joys of bees, their hard work through fruit, vegetable, nut, and seed pollination, and of course, local fresh honey and hive products. 

As part of the celebrations for World Bee Day 2020, we will be partnering with our hive host partners West Village to host a Facebook Live cross, taking you inside a European beehive, answering your questions and fulfilling the ultimate interest that we all knowingly hold. Follow us on our Instagram Stories throughout the day to follow us on our day's journey, celebrating all things bees as we perform one of our final harvests for the season and we check in on the health of our strong coastal beehives. 

The main purpose of the World Bee Day events is to spread awareness of the significance of bees and other pollinators for our survival. Simply proclaiming World Bee Day does not do much for bees and other pollinators; the main work of safeguarding their existence still needs to be undertaken. World Bee Day is an excellent opportunity to put bees at the centre of the national conversation for a day and encourage actions that create more bee-friendly landscapes.

Beekeepers and nature conservationists are united in encouraging improved conditions for bees to build pollination security and to safeguard our food security.
